This is an original one-sheet poster from 1974 for a theatrical re-release of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The science fiction classic stars Gary Lockwood, Keir Dullea, William Sylvester, Daniel Richter, Leonard Rossiter, Robert Beatty and Douglas Rain. Stanley Kubrick directed the film.
The poster features a 1971 copyright date on the bottom however this is poster is from the 1974 release. MGM apparently utilized a 1971 re-release printing plate to print a number of posters for the 1974 re-release. The back of the poster has a 1974 National Screen Service stamp to confirm the age of the poster.
It measures 27” x 41” and is in very good to excellent condition with minor edge and fold wear. The poster was folded at the time of printing. Most folds flatten out nicely for framing and are often desirable for vintage, collectible movie posters.
Please look closely at the photo (this is the exact poster you are buying). The black squares in the corners of the poster are magnets and not pins.
