This is an original, Polish movie poster from 1970 for the initial, theatrical release of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) starring James Dean, Natalie Wood, Sal Mineo, Jim Backus, Edward Platt, and Dennis Hopper. Nicholas Ray directed the classic drama. Ryszard Kiwerski is the artist for the poster. James Dean died in an automobile accident in September 1955 shortly before the release of the film. Even though the film wasn't released in Poland for nearly 15 years, Kiwerski's art alludes to Dean's death with his face intertwined with an automobile.
The poster measures 23.25" x 33.5" and is in very good condition with some small tears and wear long parts of the edges from previous handling. The poster was folded at the time of printing but has been stored flat for many years. It will be rolled for shipping in a rigid tube mailer.
Please look closely at the photos (this is the exact poster you are buying). It is not cropped or a stock image.
This extremely rare and collectible poster, printed in 1970 to promote the initial, Polish theatrical release of Rebel Without a Cause, is not a reproduction or a reprint.
