This is an original, linen-backed, one-sheet movie poster from 1957 for Raintree County starring Montgomery Clift, Elizabeth Taylor, Eva Marie Saint, Nigel Patrick, Lee Marvin, and Rod Taylor. Edward Dmytryk directed the Civil War romantic drama based on a novel by Ross Lockridge Jr. John Groth and Wallace Bassford are the artists for the poster.
The poster measures 27" x 41" and has been linen-backed for long-term preservation and display. The poster was in very good to excellent condition prior to backing with minimal edge and fold wear from handing. It was folded at the time of printing but the fold lines are much less noticeable after backing. Linen-backed posters are stored flat and rolled for shipping in a rigid, tube mailer. The restorer trimmed most of the excess linen from the edges (likely to accommodate framing).
Please look closely at the photo (this is the exact poster you are buying). It is not cropped or a stock image.
This rare and collectible poster, printed in 1957 to promote the theatrical release of Raintree County, is not a reproduction or a reprint.
