Godfather (1972)

Original Film Art Shipping

1 available
  • This is an original, Italian 2 Fogli movie poster from 1972 for initial, theatrical release of The Godfather starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire and John Cazale. Francis Ford Coppola directed the Academy Award-winning film based on the book by Mario Puzo. S. Neil Fujita is the artist for the poster.

The poster measures 39" x 55" and has been linen-backed for long-term preservation and display. The poster was in very good condition prior backing with very minor fold wear and edge wear. It was folded at the time of printing but the fold lines are much less visible after linen-backing. The poster has been stored flat for many years and will be rolled for shipping in a rigid, tube mailer.

Please note that Italian 2 Fogli posters from the first release of The Godfather are quite hard to find. There are 2 Fogli posters from later 1970s and 1970s re-releases of the film that can be difficult, but not impossible, to distinguish from this first release. There are subtle differences with those later posters (such as the inclusion of actress Simonetta Stefanelli in the credits). This poster is from the very first release of the film and is considered to be one of the the most sought after, and hard to find, posters for The Godfather.

Please look closely at the photos (this is the exact poster you are buying). The black circles in the corners of the poster are magnets and not pins.

This extremely rare and collectible poster, printed in 1972 to promote the Italian theatrical release of The Godfather, is not a reproduction or a reprint.
