Fast Freight (1922)
This is an original French grande movie poster from 1922 for The Fast Freight starring Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle, Lila Lee, Nigel Barrie, Herbert Standing, and Raymond Hatton. James Cruze directed the lost, silent train comedy film. French painter Edouard Alexandre Bernard is the artist for the poster.
Roscoe Arbuckle was one of the highest paid and most popular stars in film in the 1910s but was arrested and charged with rape and manslaughter in 1921. After three trials, he was eventually acquitted of all charges but the scandal destroyed his career. The Fast Freight was banned in the United States and original posters from the film are exceedingly rare. It is considered a "lost" film as no known copies still exist.
This poster measures 46.25" x 62.25" and has been linen-backed for long-term preservation and display. The poster was in good to very good condition prior to linen-backing with some separation and wear along some of the fold lines. It had some minor discoloration along some of the fold lines and some spots of discoloration along the edges. The poster was folded at the time of printing but the folds are less noticeable after linen-backing. Linen-backed posters are stored flat and rolled for shipping in a rigid, tube mailer.
Please look closely at the photos (this is the exact poster you are buying). It is not cropped or a stock image.
This extremely rare and collectible poster, printed in 1922 to promote the French theatrical release of The Fast Freight, is not a reproduction or a reprint.
