Gateway of the Moon (1928)

1 available
  • Film: Gateway of the Moon (1928)
    Year poster printed: 1928
    Country: Argentina
    Exact Size (inches): 14.5” x 29”

This is an original Argentine movie poster from 1928 for the "lost" silent film Gateway of the Moon starring Dolores Del Rio, Walter Pidgeon, Anders Randolf, Lesle Fenton, and Noble Johnson. John Griffith Wray directed the silent drama about an American lost in the jungles of South America. There are no known prints of the film in existence today.

The title of the film in Argentina was La Virgen del Amazonas (The Virgin of the Amazon) and the tagline at the bottom of the poster translates as "The primitive passions and the greed of the man inserted into an unequaled plot within the jungles of the Amazon."

The poster measures 14.5” x 29” and is in good to very good condition with a few tiny tears on the edges of the poster (on fold lines). The poster has a few spots of discoloration and a tiny pinhole at the top of the poster. It was folded at the time of printing. The poster has been stored flat for many years and will be rolled, for shipping in a rigid, tube mailer.

Please look closely at the photo (this is the exact poster you are buying). This extremely rare and collectible poster, printed in 1928 for the Argentine release of Gateway of the Moon, is not a reproduction or a reprint.
